For a faithful disciple , waiting in the meantime for the return of the Son of Man involves watchful preparedness, trustful obedience in the use of the master’s resources, and humble caring for the poor and needy of this world.
ANALYSIS
Matthew adds three unique parables illustrating what it looks like for a discipleA disciple is a person who accepts and follows the pronouncements of a teacher. Jesus chose twelve disciples (also called "apostles" in some of the Gospels) to follow him and bear witness to his message Anyone who (like them) follows Jesus is engaged in Christian... to live in the meantime of waiting for the return of the Son of Man. Together they are the final teaching of Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel and thus the final summing up of the kind of righteousness that is needed for this faithful disciple community to which he writes.
