Luke

The "beloved physician" and companion of Paul

Someone named Luke is mentioned three times in letters attributed to the Apostle Paul. He is referred to as “the beloved physician” (Colossians 4:14), Paul’s “fellow worker” (Philemon 24), and a companion of Paul (2 Timothy 4:11). Christian tradition has held that he is the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.
