Son of King Saul and friend of David

Jonathan, son of King Saul, was a mighty warrior, popular with the soldiers, brave in war against the Philistines, and unselfish in his devotion to David. Jonathan was killed in the disastrous battle with the Philistines at Mt. Gilboa.
