ANALYSIS
Cities that were not destroyed, or recovered more quickly than Jerusalem, will be brought low. Specifically included in this list are Damascus, Hamath, Tyre, Sidon, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Gaza, and Ekron (the Philistine cities, except Gath). But after the cities experience fear and writhe in pain, God will remove their pride. Then they will be given a kosher diet [remove the blood from their mouths and detestable things from between their teeth] (v7). Then they will be like a remnant for God, like a clan in Judah. In this short passage, God moves quickly from judgment to inclusion of foreign city states.
