SUMMARY
Lack of wisdomWisdom encompasses the qualities of experience, knowledge, and good judgment. The Old Testament book of Proverbs, which sometimes invokes a Woman as the personification of Wisdom, is a collection of aphorisms and moral teachings. Along with other biblical passages, it teaches, "The fear of the... is deeply problematic, though it leads to questions which can point us to God.
ANALYSIS
Proverbs 30:1-6 are a remarkable way to begin a chapter of Proverbs. These are the words of Agur, an unknown person. They read like a proverbial lament over the lack of wisdom. Joined to the lament are three questions in verse 4 which point the reader to God and perhaps point the Christian to JesusJesus is the Messiah whose life, death, and resurrection are God's saving act for humanity.. And then the lament turns to proclamation: “Every word of God proves true…”
