SUMMARY
Amon undoes all the reforms of his repentant father, Manasseh.
ANALYSIS
The Chronicler’s account is essentially the same as 2 Kings 21:19-26. It functions as an appendix to the reign of Manasseh. Instead of repenting as his father had done, however, Amon “incurred more and more guilt” (v. 23). This relapse into apostasy also segues into Josiah’s extensive reforms.
