While Uriah was away fighting in David’s army, David committed adultery with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba. In order to cover up the situation, David brought Uriah back from the battlefield, but Uriah would not sleep with his wife while his men remained in battle. He slept outside his house. David then had Uriah placed in the heaviest fighting so he was sure to be killed. After this David married Bathsheba, who became the mother of Solomon.
