Philip the Apostle

Disciple who brought Nathanael to Jesus.

Philip was from the Galilean town of Bethsaida, the home of Peter and Andrew. He speaks occasionally in the Gospel according to John. After Jesus calls him, Philip invites Nathanael to "come and see" the one of whom Moses and the prophets had spoken (John 1:43-51). Since Philip is the one whom a group of Greeks ask to introduce them to Jesus (John 12:20-22), he may have had a role in the church’s later mission to Gentiles, although little is known of his later life. He is not the same person as Philip the evangelist, the Philip who is mentioned in Acts.
