Lot was a nephew of Abraham who accompanied Abraham from Haran to Canaan. Lot eventually settled at Sodom. He was captured when kings from the east invaded the region, but Abraham freed him. When God determined to destroy Sodom because of wickedness, two angels warned Lot to flee. He did so, although his wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.
