Darius

The name of kings of the Persians and Medes.

a. Darius the Great was king of Persia at the time when the Jews were in Exile in Babylon. He continued the tolerant policy of Cyrus and allowed the Jews to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem

b. Darius the Mede is mentioned a number of times in the story of Daniel.
