Caiaphas was the high priest in the Gospels’ accounts of Jesus’ passion. He is remembered for the leading part he played in the arrest, trial, and crucifixion of Jesus. Caiaphas succeeded Annas, his father-in-law, as high priest and ruled 18-36 CE. In Acts 4:5-6, Annas is among those who interrogate Peter and John.
