Anna Marsh
Anna Marsh returned to Luther Seminary in the summer of 2022, for a two-year position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Old Testament. She earned her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Interpretation with distinction from the Jewish Theological Seminary (New York, NY) and holds an M.A. in Old Testament from Luther Seminary. She earned her B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in 2004. Anna taught several courses as an adjunct instructor at Hamline University, United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and here at Luther before joining the faculty full-time.
Her current research and teaching are focused on gender and literary criticism of the Hebrew Bible, and on food and drink in the Bible and ancient world. Her publications include a chapter in the recent volume Reading the Song of Songs in a #MeToo Era: Women, Sex and Public Discourse (Brill, 2023) and several book reviews as well as forthcoming journal articles. She is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) and the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS). She enjoys teaching in congregations, and is available for single sessions or multi-week series on a wide variety of biblical books or themes.
She lives in Saint Paul with her family and enjoys meal planning, cooking, yoga, swimming, and always wants to know what you’re watching on television.
