Biography
Rev. Dr. Danielle Dokman is a Surinamese Lutheran Pastor working in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Suriname (ELKS). She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Sociology at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname in January 2014. In May 2016, she graduated from the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI) in Jamaica with a Master of Divinity in Theology. The UTCWI awarded her the ‘Trinity Moravian Prize in Preaching’. On November 6th of the same year, she was ordained in the ELKS as a minister of Word and Sacrament. Her passion is preaching and teaching congregants so that they may fully engage in God’s transformative and salvific work in the church and the world. This has been ingrained in her through her 7-year journey with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) as a council member for Latin America and the Caribbean (2010 – 2017). During these years, Dr. Dokman also served as the chair of the Sub-committee for the Department of Mission and Development. In the ELKS, she worked as a congregational pastor in two Lutheran Churches. She also chaired the ministerial board of the ELKS. In May 2026, she obtained her doctoral degree in Old Testament at Luther Seminary. Her desire is to empower churches to work towards a just and reconciled world.
