Someone named Luke is mentioned three times in letters attributed to the Apostle Paul. He is referred to as "the beloved physician" (Colossians 4:14), Paul’s "fellow worker" (Philemon 24), and a companion of Paul (2 Timothy 4:11). Christian tradition has held that he is the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.
