The Bible in a Year Podcast

Journey with us in 2026 for a weekly walk through all 66 books of the Bible, discovering more about Scripture and how it shapes our lives today

If you’re looking for a way to get into the Bible in the new year, watch for the launch of a new Enter the Bible podcast in January. “The Bible in a Year from Luther Seminary” will guide you on a journey through the books of the Bible, providing insights on how Scripture can shape your life today.

Each episode of Bible in a Year will focus on one or two books of the Bible in fun, engaging, and authentic conversations between Luther Seminary faculty and guest Bible scholars who are experts on the book(s) in question.

The podcast will drop a new episode each Wednesday in 2026, starting with Genesis and ending with Revelation. Each of the 52 episodes includes a brief overview of the book’s themes, authorship, context, and notable passages.

The four hosts for the podcast include Dr. Kristofer Phan Coffman, Rev. Katie Langston, Dr. Kathryn Schifferdecker, and Dr. Jennifer Wojciechowski.

Guests include Bible scholars such as Dr. Michael Chan, Dr. Cory Driver, Dr. Cameron Howard, Dr. Karoline Lewis, Dr. Lois Malcolm, Dr. Monica Melanchthon, Dr. Dennis Olson, Dr. Mary Hinkle Shore, Dr. Matthew Skinner, and Dr. F. Scott Spencer, among others.

Sneak peek into an episode

Here’s an advance clip from the episode on Revelation, featuring Dr. Craig Koester, in which he discusses the name of the book with host Kathryn Schifferdecker, who asks: “Is it ‘Revelation’ or ‘Revelations’?”

Bible Bingo

In each episode, the guest scholar identifies five words or concepts that are essential to understanding the book. The segment, called Bible Bingo, is playful and informative. Here’s an example featuring Craig Koester’s first Bible Bingo word (“Apocalypse”) for the Book of Revelation.

Challenge: Describe the book in seven words

After Bible Bingo, there’s an opportunity to delve deeper into the book, exploring memorable passages, unusual or surprising moments, unforgettable figures, and spiritual insights that inspire and challenge. The episode closes with a daunting task for the guest: Describe the book in seven words or less!

A podcast for anyone seeking fresh insights on the Bible

This podcast is designed for spiritual seekers, Bible study participants, and anyone seeking a fresh approach to engaging with the Bible.

It’s a way to learn more and discover for yourself why this ancient text continues to speak to new generations. Spend time with the stories in the Bible—stories of liberation, identity, and finding your way home. These same stories draw people of any age back to Scripture today.

These stories reveal the truth about the human predicament, yet offer us something to hope for in the face of it—stories of forgiveness, reconciliation, and grace. Stories about wrestling with doubt and finding God in the midst of our suffering. The Bible continues to speak because human questions don’t change as much as we sometimes tell ourselves they do.
